The workshop descriptions and schedule will be posted on the site on April 29th. Please be patient :)
It is STRONGLY suggested that participants install the apps listed if they would like to engage in any hands on participation during the session.:
Greg's App Smashing Workshop (iPad):
I've just taken the LBPSB EdTech institute schedule live. We've added 4 french workshops on Monday, June 29th (2 for high school and 2 for elementary school). This way the teachers can stay the full day.
Please register for the session you want on May 15th. Any questions please email me (firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com). Be sure to let me know if you want to be part of Greg's workshop as we only have 35 spaces in the morning and another 35 in the afternoon.
Welcome back :)
I have booked this year's guest speakers for the LBP Annual Edtech Institute. Darren Kuropatwa will deliver this year's keynote and Greg Kulowiec will give two advanced workshops on app smashing. This year's theme is built around digital storytelling for students and teachers. Please check this blog frequently for updates. I will also be more strict in keeping the registrations down especially for the June 26th day ~ last year we were a little to crowded during some of the sessions and lunch. The conference will take place at Lakeside Academy in the new ESD 'air-conditioned' classrooms on the second floor. See you in May :)
All conference information will be up on this site by mid-March. If any of you are interested in offering a workshop on June 29, please send me a short note and I will get back to you ASAP :)
If you have any questions or please email me!
The institute starts tomorrow. The hashtag we will use is #lbpsbed.
All the presentation links will be posted on the resources page of this site over the weekend.
We had an awesome day on Friday with Jennie. What an inspiration for all of us! I just posted the links to what she shared on the resource page. I added two pictures (below) of the SAMR model she was talking about; as well as one of the 'big' questions of the day: "I am here to get better at ....."
Remember that it's never about the technology but about transforming the learning and engaging students...
Go to the workshop website (http://lbpedtech2014.sched.org) to register for the workshop you want to have fun in, if you haven't already done so.
I would also appreciate it, if you check off the coffee and lunch networking sessions while building your schedule. This will give us an idea of the amount of food and snacks we need to order.
The schedule will be added to your calendar on your computer, smart phone, or tablet. We are not printing any paper. We want this conference to be totally 'green'.
If a workshop is listed as full ~ please register for the workshop anyways ~ as the program puts you on a wait list. I will be meeting with the conference speakers in a couple of weeks to fine tune the offerings. At that point we may add or delete some of the sessions.
You should be able to attend any session if you're a beginner beginner with the exception of the advanced Google scripting session on Friday with Chris and James. If a workshop 'catches' you eye please register for it. Don't think that you won't be able to keep up. I guarantee you will!
As I said yesterday the institute is built around the LBPSB Technology Plan which in turn is built around the 4 C's and the ISTE technology standards. I will talk about this in more detail at the conference.
Please check this blog for the latest institute updates!!! If you have any questions or need help in registering for the workshops please email me.
See some of you next week at the DCP meetings and ALL of you in June :)
We now have over 200 participants. Can't wait to listen to Jennie speak on Friday. Here's the latest update:
The institute is full. We have 150 participants on June 26th with 110 on June 27th. I now have the happy problem of figuring out how to fit everyone in on the 26th. We had originally planned for a maximum of 125 registrants on each day. I could take another 10 registrations for the 27th. May 2nd is full for both the morning and afternoon sessions.
